Another deployment

Got deployed about 8 days ago to assist the Texas Department of State Health Services battle the H1N1 (Swine) flu pandemic covering 28 counties in Texas.

We set up the command center, supplies (laptops, cell phones, etc). We are shutting down today.

Here is a picture from one of the rooms at DSHS. No explanation needed as to why I hated going in this room.

Hurricane Ike

Well, right on the heels os Hurricane Gustav came along Ike. I am still on strike team duty, but it is now just a daily 1-2 hour workday. I had one day off in September, and so far only 1 day in October as well. But I do believe things will ease up this week and next.

Unless, of course, we agree to take over a general population shelter in Galveston that FEMA and the Red Cross want us to do … to be continued.
